Our Flood

This morning I woke up at 5:30 to go for my walk and looked down the road to the South and could tell it was flooded, by 7:00 it was almost to our house, and by 9:30 it was a close to 3 feet from our house. Our garage was under water, most of the yard was under water, thankfully we are on a bit of a hill otherwise it would have been a lot worse for us.
Jeremy ended up walking to work ,at 11:30, and shortly after he left we go about 2 1/2 feet of water in the basement. Thankfully I had so great neighbors whose house was dry that came to help.
The water outside has gone down for the most part, our yard and garage are no longer under water. We currently have two pumps going in the basement and the water is still just above our ankles.
As I'm downloading pictures Jeremy says the water is out of the basement. I hope the weathermen our wrong and the rain they are calling for tonight misses us so we don't have more of a mess in the morning. Keep you fingers crossed.

Wow

Has it really been over a month since I last posted?

I can say that all is well in the Pingel home. The boys and I made it back to Eldora Mothers Day weekend, we went to Izzy and Ally's soccer games, their recital, and I made it up to bar to see some great friends! Drew had is last day of preschool on the 26th and that evening he had a concert, he did a great job!

At the end of the month Mom, the boys, and I are headed to Tekamah for a family reunion. I'm not sure how this is going to go. This well be my first trip there since Grandma's funeral. Since I was 14 she was my only grandparent, and as strange as it may sound, she was a connection to Dad. I'm not sure how this is going to go for me...I know I should probably warn all to watch out for the water works.

On another note, I am hoping to meet up with an old friend in Nebraska, gee, I can't even tell you the last time we saw each other, but she has a sweet baby Lilly that I can't wait to meet.

Love/Hate

I have a love/hate relationship with the kitchen in this house we are renting. I love that it is so old and I hate that it is so old.

The cupboards and drawers are metal...which has been a perfect place to display all of the art work Drew has made for us.

The fridge is one of those old fridges that has the freezer inside, so about once a month I have to beat the s#!t out of with a hammer it to defrost it.

The stove, I think is older than all of my blog readers...it has to be from the 1950s, it is humgo and no matter how many times I've cleaned it top to bottom, after almost two years here, I still feel like it isn't clean enough.

The floor, well it is that old aluminum flooring, you know with all the specks in it. Which, I must say, is great because it hides the dirt and sand well, but that is the same reason I hate it.
Earlier today a box of Nerds was spilt on the floor, no big deal right? I don't know how many times I swept, and because of the specks, I would miss some and five minutes later step on one. For something so small they sure hurt the bottom of your feet. I finally got down on my hands and knees till I made sure everyone of them was off the floor.

Now for the sink, it is porcelain, which I love because it is easy to clean and I just love the whiteness of it. However, my sink and my dishes have battled and the sink usually wins.
If a dish is dropped too hard it will break or chip. I've lost two drinking glasses and 5 desert plates. Do you think God is trying to tell me something by killing my desert plates?
